Q&A
  • How do I get started?
This is a simple process. Click on the "book in" button on the top of this page and you can book a time for our free 15 minute consultation on a day that suits you. From there, we will book in our first session together over the phone.
  • Do you work with couples?
    No, only with individuals.
  • What is the difference between a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Psychologist?
The terms counsellor, psychotherapist, and psychologist often overlap but refer to different roles and training in mental health care. Here’s a breakdown of the differences: Counsellors typically provide short-term support to address specific issues, such as stress, relationships, grief, or life transitions. They focus on helping clients find practical solutions and cope with challenges. Psychotherapy tends to be longer-term and delves deeper into underlying emotional and psychological patterns. It aims to explore past experiences, unresolved trauma, and the unconscious mind. Psychotherapy is relational and process-driven, working collaboratively to address deep-seated issues and foster self-awareness and change. Psychologists specialise in understanding human behavior and mental processes. Clinical psychologists diagnose and treat mental health disorders, while other psychologists may focus on research, education and are usually trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
  • Do you work with under 18's?
No, I only work with adults 18+.
  • Can I use my Mental Health Care Plan to see you?
Unfortunately, Psychotherapy services is not covered under the Mental Health Care Plan Scheme. However, if you have Private Health Insurance you may be eligible for a reimbursement.
  • Do you offer after hours appointments?
Yes, Having previously worked in the corporate world, I understand it can be difficult trying to fit appointments in during work hours. Therefore, I offer sessions until 7:30pm Monday through to Thursday so you can come when suits you.
  • How much are the fees?
Standard consultation is $180 per session. I do provide a sliding scale for students and concession card holders.
  • How long do the sessions go for?
    Sessions go for 50 minutes.
  • How often will I need therapy?
There is no magic answer here. But generally speaking, people come to therapy weekly to fortnightly.
